75th Anniversary Celebration: An American in Paris & More
Saturday, October 11, 2025, 7:30 pm
Get ready for an unforgettable evening as we kick off our spectacular season with a breathtaking celebration of 75 years of the Allentown Symphony! This special concert will recreate the magic of the orchestra’s very first performance from October 1951, and it’s packed with an incredible variety of music that is guaranteed to dazzle and delight. Featuring timeless favorites like Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty, Gershwin’s An American in Paris, Debussy’s Clair de Lune, Smetana’s The Moldau, Wagner’s Dance of the Apprentices, and Bach’s Wir Glauben All’en einen Gott, this concert is a musical journey you won’t want to miss!
But that’s not all! We’re thrilled to welcome 15-year-old violin prodigy Mio Imai, Grand Prize winner of the 2019 Philadelphia International Music Festival Concerto Competition. Mio will join the orchestra to perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capricioso, showcasing her extraordinary talent. In a fascinating twist, Mio is the same age as the legendary Michael Rabin when he performed the violin solo in the original 1951 concert, and like him, she hails from Philadelphia! Don’t miss your chance to be part of this historic event. Get your tickets now for an evening of unforgettable music
