The quintet ensemble for this concert will present two world premiers, “Chair Suite” by Peter Paulsen and “Concrete & Fireflies” by Jonathan Ragonese, which utilize and combine specifically composed ensemble passages with improvised, interactive sections. In addition, there will be a number of unique arrangements of jazz standards which will feature each one of the performers in a variety of solo and combined duets and trios within the larger ensemble. The elements of spontaneity and spur-of-the-moment improvisations are a hallmark of this group of instrumentalists, always bringing a passionate conviction to the music making and an exciting evening of listening!
