An Evening with the “Music of Zen For Primates”
Friday, August 19, 2016, 7:30 pm
Join founding member and composer Mike Krisukas (guitar) and the long-standing current Band of Merry Zensters - Jodi Beder (cello); Shelagh Maloney (violin); and Pete Fluck (sax & harmonica) as they journey through the beautiful and quirky arrangements that were lurking “Behind the Vocals” of Zen For Primates.
This unique evening will also feature the reunion of the original 1988 founding members Mark Golin (violin) and Dave Smith (sax & clarinet) doing the music from Zen’s first CD, Albatross. They will even be doing a few of their pieces that preceded the birth of Zen For Primates.
It is all about the “Music” but they’ve added and few twists and turns.
The show will also feature Muhlenberg College Professor of Theatre, Francine Roussel as your Tour Guide, as she will be retelling the history of the band and adds some interesting background commentary on the actual creation and inner workings of the musical pieces.
And if that’s not too much fun already……..
There will be a few vocal performances that pop up throughout the show, Doug Hawk and Francine Roussel, two wonderful vocalists will do their take on some Zen tunes. And, Darlene Finelli and Fionna Hennessy, who have appeared on several of Zen’s recordings may make a surprise visit as well....
And who knows, the “Band” itself may even break into “Julie Breaks Her Beans” !!
Don’t Miss a Note!!
