The Allentown Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for the following tenure-track positions in September, 2025:

Principal Timpani

September 3, 2025

Assistant Principal Violin 2/Section Violin 2 (2 positions)

September 4, 2025

Principal Trumpet/3rd Trumpet (2 positions)

September 8, 2025

4th Horn
September 16, 2025

APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR ALL INSTRUMENTS: 11:59PM Eastern, August 18, 2025

REPERTOIRE AND EXCERPT PACKETS: will be posted for all instruments on this webpage by mid-June. Please check back regularly for updates.

All audition rounds will take place behind a screen. Candidates may be invited to participate in a performance trial with the orchestra at a later date as part of the audition process.

To apply:

-submit your application using the link at the bottom of this page by the application deadline: 11:59PM August 18, 2025

-mail a $75.00 audition deposit check (address listed below) by :August 18, 2025

this deadline is the “received by” date and not the “postmarked” date. The check must arrive to our offices by the end of business on August 18th. Please mail your check out ASAP after you submit the online application.

-any concerns about the deposit checks and deadline should be communicated by emailing: auditions@allentownsymphony.org

Other information:

-The online application includes submission of a  one page PDF file of your resume. Only PDF versions of resumes will be accepted. 

-The audition committee reserves the right ask for a recording prior to offering any candidate an invitation to the audition.

-Resumes will be reviewed and invitations will be sent out shortly after the application deadline of August 18th. The ASO will make an effort to invite as many applicants as possible given scheduling constraints.

Audition deposit checks should be made out to “Allentown Symphony Association”. Please write your name and instrument in the memo line and send it to the following address:

Checks will be destroyed if the candidate gives notice of cancellation of at least 7 days before the audition date. Checks will be returned upon your arrival at the audition. Any questions about audition deposit checks should be directed to auditions@allentownsymphony.org.

2025-26 Season Pay Scale for Section Positions

$132.82 for 2.5-hour Rehearsals

$148.12 for Rehearsals longer than 2.5 hours

$139.81 for Concerts

Overscale premium

25% for Principal

10% for Assistant Principal

Travel reimbursement of $0.51/mile, up to 170 miles roundtrip per day, with the first 40 miles exempt. The Allentown Symphony does not provide lodging or per diem.
