Schadt String Scholarships

Schadt String Scholarships provide financial support from $100-$500 to young string players of merit to experience concentrated instrumental student from outstanding teachers, coaches, and conductors in a structured educational environment.
Judges will continue to review submissions within the following categories:
No private lessons, 1-3 years of playing experience, any age
No private lessons, 3+ years of playing experience, any age.
No private lessons 4th-8th grade
No private lessons 9th-12th grade
Submission Deadline: May 1, 2027
Notifications: June 1, 2027
Requirements & Format
- Students may submit any solo piece (etude, sonata, concert, etc.) that does not exceed seven minutes in length.
- Age: 4th grade to 12th grade students are eligible to submit auditions
- Region: Students who live in Berks, Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, Schuylkill Counties (PMEA District 10) may submit.
- Instruments: Students must perform on Violin, Viola, Cello, or Bass. Piano accompaniment is allowed in the submitted recordings.
- Submit a video file that can be downloaded (not YouTube) filmed in a horizontal format and with good audio quality.
- Scholarships awarded must be used for private lessons or a summer music camp. Checks will be sent directly to the teacher or music camp administrative office.
- Top scholarship winners ($400-4500) must sit out one year before they can apply again, unless they are moving into a different category.
