About Our Program
Since 2011, El Sistema Lehigh Valley (ESLV) has operated as an intensive daily music education program at three public schools in the Allentown School District: Roosevelt Elementary School, South Mountain Middle School, and Raub Middle School. ESLV provides students with a structured learning environment, fostering personal development through daily music training, homework tutoring, and public performance opportunities. As students master their instruments, they develop important cognitive and social skills, and gain experience as part of an orchestra. ESLV is designed as a longitudinal program, providing consistent support, training, and mentoring to students from kindergarten through high school.
Students come from over 20 different schools in the Lehigh Valley to be a part of El Sistema Lehigh Valley. Daily instrument lessons and choral instruction for these students is held each day at Roosevelt Elementary School, and all students in the program are encouraged to attend. Solo and small group lessons are offered at the middle school level during the school day at both Raub Middle and South Mountain Middle School. In all, ESLV provides more than 520 program hours per student each year.
Students grow as they become part of an orchestra and begin to master their instruments, and learn focus, discipline, and responsibility. They become part of a performing group greater than themselves and experience the thrill of playing before an audience.
ESLV students practice, rehearse, and perform at five seasonal concerts during the school year to demonstrate their progress. At the end of the school year, they play a concert at the historic Miller Symphony Hall, to which their families and friends are invited free of charge.

Our mission at El Sistema Lehigh Valley is to enrich our community by inspiring special needs and underserved youth with a free opportunity to develop coveted life and musical skills through the participation in daily musical instruction, large ensembles experiences and performance, along with academic tutoring.
Teach In Harmony
At ESLV our motto is “In an Orchestra, we do everything together!” This saying holds true throughout all ensembles that our students participate in, including the choirs. Our teachers work hand in hand to optimize the learning of our students as well as to create a safe and nurturing environment for them. We also hope to model this teamwork like behavior to our students so it will trickle down to the ways they operate with one another.
The Future Sounds Good
Like the original El Sistema program in Venezuela, our goal is to grow to the capacity to teach all instruments to our students and have our very own youth symphony. This coming year we are celebrating our 10th year anniversary, and have grown and are continuing to grow tremendously. We are very excited to see what the future has in store!
Our Groups
Desde el 2011, El Sistema Lehigh Valley (ESLV) dirige un programa diario intensivo educativo de música en tres escuelas públicas en el Distrito Escolar de Allentown: Roosevelt Elementary School, South Mountain Middle School, y Raub Middle School. ESLV ofrece un ambiente estructurado de aprendizaje para estudiantes, fomentando un desarrollo personal a través del entrenamiento diario de música, asistencia con la tarea, y oportunidades de actuaciones. Mientras los estudiantes perfeccionan su práctica instrumental, ellos desarrollan habilidades importantes cognitivas y sociales, y adquieren experiencia formando parte de una orquesta. ESLV fue diseñado como un programa de largo plazo, proporcionando el apoyo, entrenamiento, y orientación constante a los estudiantes desde Kindergarten hasta la Preparatoria.
Estudiantes vienen de 20 diferentes escuelas del Valle de Lehigh para formar parte de El Sistema Lehigh Valley. En la escuela de Roosevelt Elementary se ofrecen lecciones diarias de instrumentos y coro para estos estudiantes todos los días, y a todos los estudiantes en el programa se les anima asistir. Se ofrecen lecciones individuales y en grupo durante el día escolar, en el nivel de escuelas intermedias, en ambas escuelas Raub Middle School y South Mountain Middle School. En total, ESLV ofrece más de 520 horas de programa por estudiante cada año.
Los estudiantes crecen mientras forman parte de una orquesta y comienzan a dominar sus instrumentos, y aprenden enfoque, disciplina, y responsabilidad. Ellos forman parte de un grupo de actuación más grande que ellos mismos y sienten la emoción apasionante de tocar ante un público.
Los estudiantes de ESLV practican, ensayan, y actúan en cinco conciertos durante el año escolar para demostrar sus progresos. Al final del año escolar, ellos tocan en un concierto en el histórico Miller Symphony Hall, en el cual sus familiares y amigos están invitados asistir gratis.

Nuestra misión en El Sistema Lehigh Valley es enriquecer nuestra comunidad inspirando jóvenes con necesidades especiales y pocos recursos con una oportunidad gratuita para desarrollar una vida deseable y habilidades musicales a través de una participación diaria de instrucción musical, experiencias y actuaciones en conjuntos grandes y actuaciones con tutoría académica.

En ESLV nuestro lema es “¡En una Orquesta todo lo hacemos juntos! Este dicho es cierto en todos los conjuntos que nuestros estudiantes participan, incluyendo los coros. Nuestros maestros trabajan mano a mano para perfeccionar el aprendizaje de nuestros estudiantes, así como crean
un ambiente seguro y acogedor para ellos. También esperamos modelar este comportamiento cooperativo a nuestros estudiantes para que se infiltre en las maneras que ellos trabajan el uno con el otro.
El Futuro es Prometedor
Como El Sistema original en Venezuela, nuestra meta es crecer a un punto donde enseñamos a utilizar todos los instrumentos a nuestros estudiantes y tener nuestra propia Sinfonía Juvenil. Este año entrante estamos celebrando nuestro décimo aniversario, y hemos crecido y continuamos creciendo tremendamente. Estamos muy entusiasmados de ver de qué depara el futuro.
