The Steve Sandberg Quartet brings its signature blend of sophistication, swing, and spontaneity to the stage in an engaging jazz concert that highlights both deep musical roots and inventive modern flair. Known for expressive interplay and adventurous improvisation, the quartet leads listeners through an evening of richly textured jazz that is thoughtful, energetic, and endlessly compelling.
Three-time Emmy–nominated pianist and composer Steve Sandberg brings an electrifying musical vision that seamlessly fuses classical, Latin, Brazilian, and jazz traditions—driven by the thrill of virtuosic, spontaneous improvisation.
A Jazz Upstairs favorite, Steve has captivated audiences with his quartet featuring violinist Zach Brock. This year, he’s especially excited to welcome another extraordinary violin virtuoso to the stage: Grammy-nominated Gregor Huebner. A global force in music, Gregor has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Apollo Theater, the Hollywood Bowl, and the Montreux Jazz Festival, and was awarded the Grand Prize in the New York Philharmonic’s New World Composers Competition.
Steve’s expansive career includes touring with David Byrne, Bebel Gilberto, and Ruben Blades, as well as conducting and arranging for Broadway. He also served as lead composer and musical director for Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go!
“A musician of multifaceted brilliance, Sandberg delivers…a masterful testament to his artistry…indispensable…music of poetry and humanity—arriving at a time when such things are sorely needed. It opens the mind and nourishes the soul.” — Paris Move
Don’t miss this chance to experience Steve’s trio live as they take you on a vibrant, genre-defying journey—featuring brand-new originals from his Dream Music Project, where audience dreams are transformed into music before your ears.
